Prevention Tips

Of course, the best way to keep your hands looking young is to work on preventing liver spots. Here are a few prevention tips to try.

-          Tip #1 – Use Sun Protection – The sun is a big culprit of these liver spots. When you are in the sun, wear sunscreen and try to keep clothing over skin to protect it. Avoid tanning as well.

-          Tip #2 – Take a Look at Habits – Some products can make liver spots more likely to occur if they are on the skin before you go out in the sun. Musk and bergamot are two of the main problems. They are often in personal care products, which means you need to be careful about using these items.

-          Tip #3 – Eat More Vegetables – Vegetables contain excellent antioxidants that help keep skin protected and young. Foods that have a lot of Vitamin E, A, iron, and selenium are great choices to add to your diet.

Treatment Options

While prevention is the best, there are some treatments available if you already have liver spots on your hands. A variety of over the counter treatments can be found, including those that contain Retinoids, Azelaic Acid, Vitamin C, and even Alpha Hydroxy acids. Some great all natural home remedies include using lemon juice or hydrogen peroxide on the skin to help fade these spots away.

Of course, professional treatments are always an option for those dealing with liver spots. Laser treatments help to resurface the skin, stimulated new and clear skin to grow. Chemical peels may fade these spots, and microdermabrasion is a procedure that may be able to remove the top layer of skin, helping to reduce the appearance of those liver spots.

Simply anti-aging is best done with the whole body in mind; that includes your hands, hair and teeth.

Anti-Age Simply With A Nightly Dry Skin Brushing

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

Body brushThe Chinese developed the process of acupuncture and acupressure.  They teach that when you apply friction to certain acupuncture points, it can cause a current flow through particular meridians of the body.  For instance, the web between the thumb and forefinger of the right hand is connected to the liver.  By stimulating some of these points, the nervous system as well as other organs and muscles improve.  That truly is anti-aging and takes so little effort.

Some of the benefits of dry skin brushing include better circulation, elimination of toxins which helps your liver, colon and kidneys function more efficiently.  Cellulite, which is just material stored in your fat cells, is reduced and your skin will become more toned, tightened and exude a youthful warm glow.

To brush your skin from head to toe takes about ten to fifteen minutes but rewards you in a variety of ways.  Here are the ways I find to be most efficient time-wise and you get all the benefits:

1)  Start with your toes, go counter-clockwise and brush all of your toes, then move on to the bottoms of your feet.

2)  Brush from your ankles to your knees brushing counter-  clockwise in circles.

3)  Continue brushing both legs completely, moving up to your torso.  Brush both buttocks up towards the heart and be gentle in the breast areas, but pay particular attention to the underarms which help lymph toxins move through and out of the body.  This improves the immune system function and other major organs.

4)  Begin brushing the fingers and hand moving upwards to the shoulders. Be careful to brush completely around the  arms and legs.

5)  The back of your neck is a bit tricky, but using the long handle of the brush should help move the brush in little circles down towards the heart.

6) Brushing your back may require you to brush in larger circles, but with a little practice, you’ll get the hang of it.

A moderately soft natural vegetable bristle brush is best, and if you can find one with a removable long handle, it’ll be easier to work with.  Begin each session with a gentle brushing and in time you’ll get your own comfort level.  Just be careful in sensitive areas so you don’t cause redness or chafing.

Your brush will fill fast with impurities so about once every five days or so, wash the brush in warm water and let dry in the sun if possible.

Within a few days your skin will become conditioned to the brushing, and will reward you with countless benefits to good health.  Living younger longer has never been easier so give it a try.

Have a fun and successful day,
