Minimize Chemicals and Toxins To Live Younger Longer
Monday, February 23rd, 2009
No doubt you’ve been taught to keep a spotless kitchen, bathroom and to always wash your hands with antimicrobial soap. Unfortunately, an ingredient called MIT (methylisothiazolinone) in these antimicrobial soaps and other personal care products can cause nervous system damage. This ingredient impacts those that are immune system compromised particularly hard.
Creating a sterile environment in your home is a myth. With conveniences come toxic chemicals in almost everything you use. Even though you’re aware of toxic cleaning products, pesticides sprayed on most fruits and vegetables, tap water containing chlorine and flouride, packaged foods that have artificial additives and preservatives, polyester sheets, particle board cabinets that reek of formaldehyde, outgassing foam pillows, to plush carpets that are a potpourri of chemicals, it’s difficult to imagine not having everything new and modern.
It all comes with a high price to your health. Genetically modified foods (just about all of your wheat and corn products are now modified), artificial sweeteners such as Splenda, msg (monosodium glutamate), as well as hormones in dairy products have all contributed to a rise in allergies. The UCB Institute of Allergy has reported that more than ten percent of Europeans suffer from food allergies and about as many in the United States.
Weight gain, particularly in women, has been on the rise despite no fat, low fat and multitudes of different kinds of diet programs. Researchers suggest the root cause is that your body is overloaded and poisoned by chemicals. It is widely known that insecticides and herbicides known as carbamates used to grow your foods, cosmetic and medicinal ingredients, are also used to fatten livestock. This is disheartening news for those trying to live slim, younger and age slower, but not to worry.
The answer may lighten your pocketbook but will have positive and lasting effects. Clear your cupboards and bathrooms of these chemical laden products and replace them with certified organic. Look for the “certified” logo to make sure you get a product that comes from companies who are passionate about reducing chemicals and toxins.
Organic farmers are especially persistent about promoting healthy topsoil that produces higher vitamin and mineral fruit or vegetable crops. Your decision to accept nothing less than chemical free foods, personal products, and minimizing toxins in your home environment will either benefit or burden generations to come. Taking this different road leads you to living younger longer.
Have a fun and successful day,
Vida
