Wrinkle Prevention Is Easier Than Treatment

Sunday, September 12th, 2010

There are endless advertisements out there suggesting you buy the lastest, greatest product for obscene dollars guaranteed to have you looking ten years younger in a few days time.  Sounds good, but now let’s getreal.

1)  If your Mother or Grandmother got wrinkles early in adulthood, chances are you’ll have a tendency to wrinkle sooner than you’d like.  Heredity does play a role.

2)  Do you work in an extremely cold, windy, or even sunny environment?  Your skin can suffer becoming dry and flaky or even worse.  These conditions can cause wrinkles much sooner than if you work in a less hostile environment.

3)  It is said that people who live in high humidity areas wrinkle less because there’s more moisture in the air.  High humidity is good for the skin.  Have you noticed that people who live in tropical areas almost always have gorgeous skin even during their advancing years?  They truly represent simply anti-aging.

4)  Don’t take hot showers.  The hot water will cause you to lose natural oils needed to protect you from dry skin.  You will need to do more moisturizing and exfoliating so the new skin will better take in moisturizers.

5)  Medical conditions such as diabetes can cause dry skin, causing you to wrinkle sooner.  Smokers often have more wrinkles too, because researchers report that smoking depletes vitamin C causing wrinkles.

6)  Make sure you’re hydrated by drinking at least 5 to 8 glasses of purified, non-chlorinated water every day.

7)  Pay particular attention to your facial expressions.  Frowning brings on furrows and lines, and those around the eyes are particularly difficult to smooth out.  Tension causes you to frown, speeding the formation of lines, so get a handle on the stress by trying deep breathing exercises and/or yoga.

8)  Your diet is of great importance.  Go for some “superfoods”, including wheat grass, barley grass, chlorella and spirulina.  These foods make up a powerhouse of antioxidants, minerals and vitamins that aid the body in preventing and reducing wrinkles.  Healthy skin structure can be achieved by eating more Omega 3 fatty acids such as those found in fish.  Chlorella will bind heavy metal toxins such as mercury and remove them.  These toxins can be a burden on your liver, cause allergies, inflammation and wrinkles.

9)  Exercise!  Even if you only have enough time to walk around the block, take a few minutes just for yourself and your body will benefit.

Wrinkles to some degree will come eventually, but by adding some of these preventive measures, you should live younger longer and enjoy your youthful skin and energetic body.

Do You Know How Much Water Your Body Needs To Live Younger Longer

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

iStock_000004765169XSmallWater. You know it’s important to your health, but did you know that it’s important to your anti-aging program too? Dehydration is a common problem that people deal with, and if you’re not getting enough water, you could be causing yourself physical problems and shortening your life.

What can happen if you are not getting enough water? Well, dehydration has been linked to a variety of dangerous physical problems in recent studies. Heartburn, back pain, arthritis, angina, colitis, migraines, high blood pressure, asthma, high cholesterol, and even type 2 diabetes have all been linked to not getting enough water, and they are all problems that can occur when the body is trying to deal with severe dehydration.

How can you know if you are dehydrated? There are many signs that show you could be dehydrated. If you are feeling thirsty, this means you have already been dehydrated for some time. Signs of dehydration include yellow urine, dark urine, dry mucous membranes, stress, dry skin, fatigue, changes in blood pressure, and headaches.

Every single day, the body loses a lot of water. You lose water through exhaling, through bowel movements, sweating, and urinating. The water you lose has to be replaced.

To avoid dehydration and to make sure that your body gets what it needs to live younger longer, you need to be drinking about half of your body weight. Simply take your current weight, divide it in half, and that is the ounces of water you should be drinking on a daily basis. For example, if you are 150 pounds, you should be drinking 75 ounces of water. A 220 pound man should be drinking 110 ounces of water each day. In some cases, if you are more active or you live in a climate that is hot, you may need even more to stave off dehydration.

When you give your body the proper nutrients, exercise and clean water, you live younger longer while feeling your best.
